Dr Victoria Kronsten

PhD Student

Biography

Victoria is an academic clinical fellow in hepatology, with one year remaining of clinical training, and she is currently out of programme undertaking a PhD at King's College London, within the MBP Lab in collaboration with the Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies.

Her research focuses on the biological mechanisms underpinning the relationship between mental health and physical health in chronic liver disease and, in particular, on investigating the high rates of depression in cirrhosis.

She has recently been awarded a Medical Research Council grant to examine the effect of the systemic inflammation observed in cirrhosis on key neurological processes implicated in the pathogenesis of depression.

Further work focuses on improving mental health and patient reported outcome measures in chronic liver disease, and in those pre-and post-liver transplantation.
